On Tuesday, May 12, Handmaker welcomed healthcare professionals, community partners, residents, families, and guests to a successful and informative Healthcare Fair held on campus — the first event of its kind at Handmaker in recent memory. The fair brought together a wide variety of healthcare providers and organizations, offering attendees the opportunity to learn more about the many services and resources available throughout the community.

Over 40 representatives from home health agencies, primary and specialty care providers, mobility equipment companies, rehabilitation and memory care facilities, hospices, senior placement agencies, and many other healthcare-related organizations participated in the event. Throughout the day, vendors connected with dozens of residents, family members, caregivers, and community guests, sharing valuable information and answering questions about services that can help support seniors and their loved ones.

Attendees enjoyed the opportunity to visit with providers face-to-face in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Meaningful connections were made, and many participants expressed appreciation for having so many healthcare resources gathered together in one convenient location.

Participants also enjoyed a delicious spread prepared by the talented Handmaker kitchen staff, while several musicians, including Handmaker’s new marketing director, Antonio Philippe, provided live guitar music throughout the event. Harmony Community Healthcare brought along the popular Harmon-ice Truck, which was enjoyed by attendees, vendors, and Handmaker staff members.

This event was made possible in part by the generous support of sponsors Sunset Hospice LLC and Senior Living Finders, as well as Agape Hospice & Palliative Care, who helped sponsor the entertainment.

Handmaker Social Services Coordinator Melinda Spiwak brought this ambitious endeavor to life. Her hard work and leadership helped create a meaningful and engaging experience for everyone involved.

Given the overwhelmingly positive response from both vendors and attendees, Handmaker hopes to organize more healthcare fairs in the future, providing access to valuable resources for the community.
