Annual Dr. Sam Goldfein Memorial Award Honors UA Graduate Lujan

The Dr. Sam Goldfein Memorial Award honors Dr. Sam Goldfein, whose leadership qualities and commitment to healing, patient advocacy, education, and clinical acumen had a significant impact on students at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and a positive influence on the practice of medicine in Southern Arizona.  

The 2026 honoree is Jesus Arturo Lujan, who stands out because of his dedication to serving underserved populations both locally and across the border. Lujan will be entering an Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Creighton University School of Medicine in Phoenix.  

The Dr. Sam Goldfein Memorial Fund is held at the Jewish Community Foundation at Jewish Philanthropies of Southern Arizona.
