CHAI Circle retreat to focus on mindfulness

Dawn Messer, founder of Mindful Meanderings, will be the keynote speaker for the 15th annual CHAI Circle retreat on Sunday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort, 5501 N. Hacienda del Sol Road.

CHAI Circle, a program of Jewish Family & Children’s Services, is a support group for women in the Jewish community with a history of cancer.

Messer is a retired optometric researcher, with a master’s in public health. She leads Mindful Meanderings, bi-monthly walks for cancer survivors that focus on mindfulness, enjoying being in nature, and gratitude.

She will discuss the physical and psychological benefits of mindfulness and spending time in nature.  Attendees also will spend time outdoors to enjoy the beauty of the surroundings and explore a variety of mindfulness techniques.

Alice Steinfeld, M.Ed., M.A., L.P.C., and Helen Rothstein, M.S.W., L.C.S.W., will serve as facilitators. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.
