Handmaker to Host Red Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday, June 24

Did you know that every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood? It’s vital for surgeries, cancer treatments, chronic conditions, and emergency care. Whether it’s whole blood, red cells, platelets, or plasma, each lifesaving donation begins with one generous donor. Because blood and platelets cannot be manufactured, volunteer donors are the only source.

Summer is one of the most challenging times for maintaining an adequate blood supply. Many regular donors are out of town, schools and colleges are out of session, and donation appointments often go unfilled. In fact, about 20% of regional blood donations in Southern Arizona come from high school and college students, meaning summer break leads to a steep drop in the local blood supply. This seasonal decline can lead to critical shortages, especially of Type O blood, which can be used universally in trauma and other urgent situations.

To help meet this need, Handmaker will host a Red Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 12:00–5:00 PM in the Great Room.

Schedule your appointment today by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visiting RedCrossBlood.org and entering sponsor code: Handmaker. You can also scan the QR code on the flyer to make your appointment.

To save time, you can complete your health screening in advance using Rapid Pass—click here or scan the Rapid Pass QR code on the flyer to get started.

As an added incentive, anyone who signs up and shows up to the blood drive will receive a $15 Amazon Gift Card, plus a chance to win a $7,000 prize. And of course, there will be plenty of snacks for all participants!
