Israeli emergency medicine course offered

American Physicians and Friends for Medicine in Israel will hold an Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Course, Nov. 3-8, in Israel. In conjunction with the Ministry of Health and the medical corps of the Israel Defense Forces, the course offers emergency and peacetime preparedness techniques.

Local physician Ken Brandis, a member of the APF board, participated in the course in November 2008.

“It was an awesome experience,” he says, “not only as a physician — especially an emergency department physician — but because whenever I return to Israel I feel as if I have come back home. On that trip, we went to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon, where my daughter was born in 1984.”

More information is available on the American Physicians and Friends for Medicine in Israel Facebook page. Contact the APF office at 617-232-5382 or info@apfmed.org, or Brandis at 760-2212 or kebran@email. com.
