LORI RIEGEL, Temple Emanu-El Youth Education Director, will attend the Mofet Institute Seminar for Community Leaders and Educators in Israel later this month. The program is designed to build leadership and management skills and strengthen ties between leadership in Israel and the Diaspora.

Tucson’s chapter of NFTY (National Federation of Temple Youth), a youth group for high school aged students who are members of Reform Jewish congregations, recently elected officers for the 2010-2011 school year. They are Haley Roberts, co-president/communications; Alyssa Silva, co-president/ membership; Alyssa Oberman, programming vice president; Daniel Louchheim, religious and cultural vice president; and Rachel Confrey, social action vice president. Known as TOASTY (Tucson’s Organization for Affiliated Southern Arizona Temple Youth), the group is a collaborative program of Temple Emanu-El and Congregation Or Chadash.
THE JEWISH WAR VETERANS FRIEDMAN-PAUL POST honored Noah Sorkow for his Bar Mitzvah project. Sorkow raised over $2,000, which he donated to the Tucson Veterans’ Administration Hospital to improve the lives of wounded veterans in the polytrauma unit.
