Army’s Capt. Greenberg will speak at CAI

Capt. Isaac Greenberg

Captain Isaac A. Greenberg will present “Being Jewish in the Army and Afghanistan” at Congregation Anshei Israel’s Shabbat service on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 9 a.m.

Greenberg, a native Tucsonan, graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2005 with a degree in international relations. He was deployed to Afghanistan June 2006-June 2007, serving as an assistant intelligence officer to an infantry battalion during Operation Freedom VI-VII, then served in several positions stateside before returning to Afghanistan as the head intelligence officer for a brigade support battalion during Operation Enduring Freedom IX, December 2008-December 2009. He received numerous awards including a Meritorious Service Medal and a Global War on Terror Medal.

He served as a Jewish lay leader during his deployments in Afghanistan and was nominated in 2009 for the Jewish Community Hero Award through the Jewish Federations of North America.

Greenberg is currently serving his fourth term as vice chairman of the Jewish War Veterans Global War on Terrorism Committee.

He attended the Captain Career Course at Fort Huachuca as a military intelligence officer last spring and now works at U.S. Army Central Command at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Ga.
