B’nai Mitzvah

Sophie Anna Holtzman

bnai sophie holtzman - colorSophie Anna Holtzman, daughter of Kyra and Barney Holtzman, will celebrate becoming a Bat Mitzvah with her cousin Lola Maas on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013 at the Hadassah Medical Center Synagogue in Jerusalem, Israel.

She is the granddaughter of Barbara Holtzman and the late Stuart Holtzman of Tucson and Linda and Michael Padden of Anchorage, Alaska.

Sophie attends Congregation Chaverim and is an honor student at Orange Grove Middle School. She plays the French horn in the school band and enjoys swimming, running and dance.

For her mitzvah project, Sophie is volunteering with the Ronald McDonald House and Ben’s Bells. She will help spread Ben’s Bells’ message of kindness on her family trip to Israel and Jordan. She and her cousin also will volunteer at Hadassah Medical Center’s pediatric ward; they are collecting art supplies and games for children in isolation wards.
