Hadassah Southern Arizona will hold an ice cream social and book swap/sale on Sunday, April 3 at 2 p.m. at Congregation Young Israel.
Two local Jewish authors, Roni Capin Rivera-Ashford and Sheldon Sid Brodkin, will read from their works. Rivera-Ashford is the author of two bilingual books for children, “My Nana’s Remedies/Los remedios de mi nana” and “Hip, Hip, Hooray, It’s Monsoon Day!/¡Ajúa, ya llegó el chubasco,” which draw on her experiences growing up in a Jewish family in Nogales, Ariz. Brodkin is the author of a novel, “Boro Park, Vegas and All the In-Betweens.”
Raffle tickets for books and related items will be available for purchase. Admission is a minimum donation of $10, which includes a door prize ticket. Proceeds will benefit Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem. Walk-ins welcome. For more information, call Marleen Miller at 343-1024.
