Sid Lachter

obit_lachterSid Lachter, 75, died May 12, 2016.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Mr. Lachter received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Manitoba. He went on to practice law in Minnedosa and Neepawa, Manitoba. His interest in politics led him to run for the Parliament of Canada in 1972 and the Manitoba Legislative Assembly in 1977. He also served on the Town Council of Neepawa and on the board of directors for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In 1979, the Lachter family moved to Arizona, where Mr. Lachter practiced law in the Phoenix area and in Tucson. He was a member of Temple Beth Sholom in Mesa for nearly 25 years, serving on the temple board in several capacities, including president. More recently, he was a member of Congregation Anshei Israel in Tucson.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 49 years, Sandra; children, Martin (Naomi) of New York, Allison (Michael) Richter of Tucson, and Hartley (Jessica) of Allentown, Pa.; brother, Shale Lachter of Vancouver, B.C.; and four grandchildren

Services were held at Evergreen Mortuary with Rabbi Robert Eisen of Congregation Anshei Israel officiating. Interment followed in the Anshei Israel section of Evergreen Cemetery.
