Please join local Holocaust survivors and their families as we come together in community to memorialize the tragedy and loss of the Holocaust and to pay tribute to those who survived and the generations that have followed after them. This special observance will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at The Tucson J in the Ballroom.
Each year on Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) it is imperative that we set aside this time to remember the more than six million Jews murdered during the Nazi Holocaust and that we continue to raise our collective voices to reaffirm the promise of ‘Never Again.’ On this special day of commemoration, it is also important that we take the time to honor the Jewish people’s courage and resilience in the face of the unimaginable pain and suffering that they were forced to endure.
This year, our Southern Arizona community will gather under the theme of “Generations After: A Community Promise” to offer our solemn vow to our local living survivors and those who have come before that in the face of our past trials and our present challenges, we will remember, and we will respond.
This annual community commemoration is a passionate collaboration of Jewish Family & Children’s Services, The Tucson J, and Tucson Jewish Museum & Holocaust Center with funding provided by Jewish Philanthropies of Southern Arizona. These organizations and their leadership are steadfast in their commitment to this important event each year because we know that in the face of rising antisemitism and as identity-based hatred grows, that ‘never again’ is not guaranteed.
Please make plans to be a part of this year’s Yom HaShoah commemoration and to lend your voice to this important community promise.
There is no charge for this event, and all are welcome to attend.
