Of Blessed Memory: June Simmons

Frances June Simmons, born in the Bronx, N.Y. on June 15, 1933, passed away August 22, 2022 in Tucson, Ariz., with her family by her side.

June was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Laurence J. Simmons; devoted mother of Ronald E. Simmons of Phoenix, Jerald H. Simmons, M.D., of Houston, and Russell A. (Julie) Simmons of Chicago; dear sister of Trudy (Howard, M.D.) Schwartz of Tucson, sister-in-law of Charles (Marla, PhD) Simmons of Tucson and Sherry Levinson of New York; cherished grandmother of Ari, Camille, Talia, Eli, Cole, Daniel, Austin and Ethan Simmons. After residing in Cleveland for over 40 years, June and Larry moved to what they called paradise, Tucson, in 1994.

June loved spending her time gardening, playing board games, doing trivia, bowling, watching soap operas and game shows, crocheting, collecting coupons, ballroom dancing, planning vacations for others, and most of all, traveling. She and Larry were world travelers, having visited 78 countries.

Graveside services to take place, August 24, 2022, 10:00 a.m. in the Congregation Anshei Israel Section of Evergreen Cemetery, 3015 N. Oracle Rd., with Rabbi Yehuda Ceitlin officiating.
