The Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona presented its Community Awards Celebration & Annual Meeting 2020 on Tuesday, Sept. 15 as a Zoom meeting, with 110 people attending.
With large in-person meetings still restricted to help slow the spread of coronavirus, the Federation for the first time held this annual celebration in a virtual space. In consideration of the new format, the entire event lasted less than an hour.

Along with remarks from Man and Woman of the Year James Wezelman and Liz Kanter Groskind and Gary I. Sarver Young Man and Young Woman of the Year Isaac Rothschild and Caron Mitchell, the celebration featured pre-recorded remarks from State Rep. Alma Hernandez, who received the Federation’s Special Recognition Award. Federation Senior Vice President Fran Katz presented a tribute to Phyllis Gold, the Ben and Betty Brook Community Professional of the Year.
