Tucson Pops plans virtual Mother’s Day concert

Maestro Laszlo Veres isn’t allowing the cancellation of the spring season of Tucson Pops Concerts to get in the way of his celebrating Mother’s Day.  Traditionally, the orchestra performs ‘My Yiddishe Momme” each year as part of the special concert celebrating mothers.  The poignant piece written in the early 1900s by Jack Yellen and made popular by Sophie Tucker is an audience favorite.

Determined not to miss an opportunity to reach out to the thousands of regular Pops attendees, Veres enlisted Concertmaster Michael Fan who together with 22 other Tucson Pops musicians will perform this classic tribute on Sunday, Mother’s Day, May 10 at 3 p.m. at https://www.facebook.com/tucsonpops/.   Future online concerts are in the planning stages.  The fall season of the Tucson Pops Music Under the Stars™ is expected to resume for the fall season beginning on Sunday, Sept. 6.
