Cantorial candidate Bryce Megdal will present a musical program at Hadassah Southern Arizona’s lunch on Sunday, Dec. 3.
Carolynn Scherer Katz, Desert Mountain Hadassah regional vice-president, will install the 2018 officers of Hadassah Southern Arizona and the Woman of the Year Award will be presented.
Megdal, a Tucson native, attended Tucson Hebrew Academy from first through eighth grade. She began her singing journey in fourth grade, when she joined the Tucson Jewish Youth Choir. She was involved in the choirs and taught Hebrew at Temple Emanu-El. She majored in Judaic studies and studio art at the University of Arizona. In May 2015, she received a master’s degree in Jewish studies from the Academy for Jewish Religion, California, where she is currently enrolled in the cantorial program. In the Los Angeles area, she serves as a teacher and teen choir director at Kehillat Israel Reconstructionist Synagogue and a cantorial intern at Temple Akiba.
The luncheon will be held at Skyline Country Club, 5200 E. St. Andrews Drive, beginning at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $27 for members, or $30 for non-members.
