HANNAH GÓMEZ has joined the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona Coalition for Jewish Education’s PJ Library team as coordinator of PJ Our Way. She will be working with PJ Our Way tweens ages 9-11. She also will coordinate outreach efforts for both PJ Library and PJ Our Way. Gómez is a Tucson native and graduate of the University of Arizona. She received her M.A. in children’s literature and M.S. in library and information science from Simmons College in Boston, Mass., in 2013 and spent the last two years in northern California, working as a school librarian. She is a We Need Diverse Books librarian team member, group fitness instructor, and freelance writer and editor.
RABBI ISRAEL BECKER of CONGREGATION CHOFETZ CHAYIM served as scholar-in-residence March 4-5 at Young Israel of Jamaica Estates in Queens, N.Y. His topics included “Engaging the Soul: Reaching In and Reaching Out,” “Finding Tranquility in a Confusing World” and “Purim and Pesach: What’s the Difference?”
R&A CPAs has appointed Thomas Furrier, CPA, as the company’s first CEO. Furrier, one of the partners-in-charge of tax, has been with the R&A since 1984. Other new positions created by the shareholders are Tariq Kahn, CPA, chief financial officer; Phillip Dalrymple, CPA, chief of staff; Rodolfo Paredes, CPA, chief of business development ; and Charlie Charvoz, CPA, chief of information systems.
