THA Chanukah concert
Tucson Hebrew Academy celebrated Chanukah on Monday evening, Dec. 7, with a show featuring holiday-themed parodies of Disney tunes performed by lower school students, the upper school choir, orchestra and eighth-grade class. Lower school students also visited local preschools last week to perform their songs and spread holiday cheer. Pictured, lower school classes perform the closing number of THA’s Chanukah show.
COC sisterhood supports Women of the Wall
Members of Congregation Or Chadash’s Sisterhood celebrated Chanukah this year by supporting the Women of the Wall and the struggle to ensure a safe, inclusive space for women’s prayer at the Kotel. The Sisterhood added its voice to WOW’s “It’s My Right to Light!” campaign to end exclusionary Chanukah candle-lighting ceremonies at the Western Wall by posting a photo of its candle lighting on the WOW website and emailing the photo to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The celebration, held at a community clubhouse, included a potluck dinner and white elephant gift exchange.
