PJ library held a pre-Chanukah celebration at Tucson Hebrew Academy on Sunday, Nov. 8. Children listened to “Gracie’s Night: A Hanukkah Story” by Lynn Taylor Gordon, illustrated by Laura Brown; built sparkly menorahs; ate latkes and desserts created by THA’s chef; and filled two carts with soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, tissues, combs and brushes, socks and gloves for students at Homer Davis Elementary School. PJ families also donated coats and jackets for those in need.

Hadassah Tea with Honey

About 60 people attended Hadassah Southern Arizona’s “Tea With Honey” event honoring Honey Manson, longtime community volunteer and founder of the Hadassah Southern Arizona Nurses Council, on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at the Tucson Jewish Community Center. Barbara Sofer, Israel director of public relations for Hadassah and a prize-winning journalist, was the guest speaker.

The Univerity of Arizona Hillel Foundation held its 10th annual IsraelPalooza event on Wednesay, Oct. 28. More than 450 students, faculty and staff participated, along with the eighth grade of Tucson Hebrew Academy. The event on the UA Mall included a falafel-eating contest, Dead Sea mud, a dunk tank and other carnival booths as well as information about Israel.
