OT Meckler rSTEVEN MECKLER will be inducted into the Tucson Advertising Hall of Fame on Thursday, Sept. 11. Meckler owns Steven Meckler Photography. He has been active with the American Advertising Federation Tucson board of directors since 1998 and was recognized by AAFT with the 2006 Advertising Professional of the Year Award. The Hall of Fame event will take place at Vivace, 6440 N. Campbell Ave., 5-7:30 p.m. More information is at www.aaftucson.org.

OT sarah becker rSARAH M. BECKER, DO, is a new faculty member at the University of Arizona Department of Pediatrics and the University of Arizona Health Network in the division of critical care. Becker completed medical school at Midwestern University and her residency in pediatrics at the UA College of Medicine-Tucson. She will care for children in the pediatric intensive care unit at the Unviersity of Arizona Medical Center-Diamond Children’s and Tucson Medical Center.

ot Megdal_Sharon rSHARON MEGDAL, Ph.D., director of the University of Arizona Water Resources Research Center, has qualified to be a candidate for the nonpartisan governing board for the Central Arizona Water Conservation District. On Nov. 4, four representatives from Pima County will be elected county-wide to serve six year terms. Megdal is completing her first term on this board, which operates the Central Arizona Project.

MARC FLEISCHMAN has been elected to the Steven M. Gootter Foundation board of directors and will serve as treasurer. Fleischman is president of Beach Fleischman, a CPA firm. The Steven M. Gootter Foundation, www.gootter.org, raises money for sudden cardiac death research and has provided more than 100 automated external defibrillators to local public institutions.

MARTHA RAST illustrated “Danes Are Great! Follow the Adventures of Brando & Kruger” by Victor Joseph, the first in a series of five books, published by Xlibris.

NANCY DARU YAELI, senior vice president of campus and global partnerships at the UA Alumni Association, will lead a 16-day trip to India in January 2015, along with Dr. Sudha Ram of the Eller College of Management. A preview reception on Tuesday, Sept. 9, will highlight tour destinations. The alumni association’s educational group travel program is open to alumni and family and friends of the UA.
