Operation Elijah matches Seder hosts, guests

Operation Elijah is a community effort to ensure that every Jew in Southern Arizona has a seat at a Seder table for Passover.

Sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona’s Jewish Community Relations Council and Outreach Connections, the project matches those who are new to the Tucson community, single, a student, have no family in the area or are alone for any reason, with those who can add a seat (or more) to their Seder table.

“Some hosts and guests hit it off so well at the first Seder, that they become good friends, and the guest is invited back year after year, along with new Operation Elijah people,” says project chair Barbara Esmond.

In 2013, more than 30 people were matched with Seder hosts. If you would like to have one guest or more in your home, or if you would like to be a guest, contact Jane Scott at jscott@jfsa.org or 577-9393, ext. 114, before April 1. Please note: transportation to and from the Seder is the responsibility of the guest.
