Hayley Madison Yalen, daughter of Ilene and Allen Yalen, will celebrate becoming a Bat Mitzvah on Saturday, May 17 at Temple Emanuel-El.
She is the granddaughter of Joan and Stuart Brodsky, and Sandy and William Yalen, all of Tucson.
Hayley attends Tucson Hebrew Academy, where she is vice president of student government. She also enjoys kickboxing at Rise Combat sports.
For her mitzvah project, she gave presentations to over 125 students from Tucson Hebrew Academy and Temple Emanuel-El about fire safety and the Greater Tucson Fire Foundation, a nonprofit organization that assists the local fire-service community with training, equipment and education that firefighters would not otherwise be able to afford. She also promoted the book “Born to Wear Blue” by Patty Vallance, which helps support the Tucson Greater Fire Foundation.
