CJE scholarships to help send kids to camp, teen to Israel

Scholarships for Jewish overnight summer camp are available through the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona Coalition for Jewish Education.

Forms are available for need-based scholarships for students currently attending Tucson’s religious schools or Tucson Hebrew Academy. The scholarships, funded by the Moe and Frances Beren Family Scholarship Fund at the Jewish Community Foundation, are meant to be combined with funds from another source. The deadline for applications is Feb. 10. For more information, contact Suzanne Amador at samador@jfsa.org.

CJE is also accepting applications for the Rabbi Arthur R. Oleisky Teen Recognition Award, which was established to honor Oleisky for his passionate support of the State of Israel and his vision of sending as many local youth as possible to Israel.

The recipient will receive $500 toward a teen Israel trip this summer or for participation in the 2014 March of the Living. Applicants will be judged on community involvement and leadership (Jewish and secular), a written application and personal interview.

The recipient will be recognized at the Federation’s annual meeting on May 2. The award is open to teens currently in 10th or 11th grade.

Application forms are available at all Tucson congregations or by emailing CJE Director Sharon Glassberg at sglassberg@jfsa.org. The application deadline is Feb.19.
