Ann Lei Tumarkin, daughter of Joanna Norman and Paul Tumarkin, will celebrate becoming a Bat Mitzvah on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Congregation Chaverim.
She is the granddaughter of Linda and Gerry Tumarkin of Tucson.
Ann attends Civano Community School, where she is especially interested in history and Holocaust studies. She enjoys hiking, reading, babysitting and technology.
For her mitzvah project, she volunteered for Guide Dogs for the Blind, a nonprofit organization that provides free trained guide dogs for visually impaired people. Ann raised, trained and socialized a guide-dog puppy. She also served on the board of the Tucson 4H puppy raising club, Paws for the Cause, for two years.
