DIANE WEINTRAUB will be honored as the Tucson recipient of the Kipnis-Wilson/Friedland Award during the 2012 International Lion of Judah Conference in New York, Sept. 10-12. The award is named for Norma Kipnis-Wilson and the late Toby Friedland, who founded the Lions of Judah, a Jewish Federations of North America program to honor philanthropic women. Lions of Judah make a significant and continuing personal gift to the annual Federation campaign. More than 13,000 women around the world are Lions of Judah, including nearly 100 in Tucson. Weintraub serves as a mentor to emerging women leaders in the local Jewish community and helps plan the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona community campaign. She and her husband, Ron, established the Weintraub Israel Center, perpetually funding the local Israel Center and a shaliach (Israeli emissary) for the community. She is also active with the TIPS (Tucson, Israel, Phoenix, Seattle) program of Partnership 2000, which pairs North American federations with communities in Israel.
