PATTY VALLANCE has written and published a children’s book, “Born to Wear Blue,” dedicated to the men and women of the fire service (borntowear blue.org). All proceeds benefit the Greater Tucson Fire Foundation. A launch party will be held Sunday, Sept. 30, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Tucson Jewish Community Center. Vallance received the Margie Fenton award from the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona’s Jewish Community Relations Council in 2007 and will be honored by JFSA Women’s Philanthropy as one of 13 “Extraordinary Women” next month.

 

A book by LORRAINE LACHS, “Flowers for Mei-Ling,” originally published in 1997, has been reissued as an e-book from Untreed Reads (http:// bit.ly.NB5bjW) and is available through other online booksellers. Lachs has taught writing, literature and film at colleges in New York and Vermont and was a finalist for the Nelson Algren Award.
