Israeli star Noa and her touring partner Mira Awad will give a UApresents concert on Sunday, March 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Centennial Hall.

“Noa and Mira are amazing Jewish Israeli and Palestinian Israeli singers; they bring a fresh musical approach to peace that shows that there can be another way. Their amazing talent inspires people worldwide to seek better understanding of each other and better relationships,” says Guy Gelbart, director of the Weintraub Israel Center, one of the presenting partners along with the Heartbeat of Israel, Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona, Temple Emanu-El and Tucson Jewish Community Center.

Influenced by her Yemenite roots and singer-songwriters of the ’60s, Noa is one of Israel’s leading international concert and recording artists. She plays percussion, guitar and piano, co-wrote the lyrics to the theme for the film “Life Is Beautiful” and is the recipient of the World Economic Forum Crystal and Dove of Peace awards.

Palestinian actress, singer and songwriter Awad was born in the Galilee and is a Goodwill Ambassador of Peace and devoted advocate of women’s rights. Following numerous collaborations with international artists, her debut album, “Bahlawan-Acrobat” was released in May 2009.

Noa and Awad represented Israel in the 2009 Eurovision contest and have been touring together to express their belief in the power of dialogue to promote peace and understanding.

Admission is included with Heartbeat of Israel season passes. A portion of the proceeds from tickets purchased through the Federation or Weintraub Israel Center at 577-9393 or israelcenter@jfsa.org will benefit the Israel Center’s teen education programs.
