RONALD S. WEINSTEIN, M.D., founding director of the Arizona Telemedicine Program, has been honored with the 2012 Technology Innovation Award by the University of Arizona. Weinstein was recognized for the many companies, institutes and scientific instruments that he has created and with which he has been involved. His recent innovations include changing the way health professionals are taught and how they provide health services, and a health-care curriculum for high school students. The award was presented at the recent ninth annual Innovation Day luncheon.

 

 

A new play by ESTHER BLUMENFELD, “Father’s Ashes,” has been selected for the full-length plays presentation at the 2012 Arizona Women’s Theatre Company’s 6th Annual Pandora Festival of New Works (gazwtc.org). JOAQUIN RUIZ, Ph.D., executive dean of the Colleges of Letters, Arts and Science at the University of Arizona, has been selected as one of the 2012 Fathers of the Year by the Father’s Day Council Tucson. The council, which raises funds for type 1 diabetes research and endowment at the Steele Children’s Research Center at the UA, will hold its 18th annual Father of the Year Awards Gala Diner & Silent Auction on Saturday, June 16 at Loews Ventana Canyon.
