Temple Emanu-El’s Olga and Bob Strauss Early Childhood Education Center will add a full-day kindergarten class beginning in fall 2011.
The kindergarten will include a fully integrated secular and Judaic curriculum, with an emphasis on emergent education, in which a teacher observes children’s natural interests and expands on them to create lessons, explains Mindy Henry, ECE assistant director.
The class will be taught by the school’s most experienced teacher, Cindy Sadowsky, who “is at the cornerstone of our Strauss school and has been since its inception,” says Lyn Henry, ECE director, who adds that “there has never been a day where she isn’t smiling, ready to teach, highly creative and inspirational.” Sadowsky has taught at the Strauss ECE for more than nine years and was a finalist for the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona’s Outstanding Judaic Teacher Award.
