Seymour “Sy” Oliven, 78, died Sept. 21, 2011.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Oliven graduated from Flatbush Yeshiva and Abraham Lincoln High School. After serving in the U.S. Army, he graduated from New York University and the American Institute of Banking. He was a volunteer in the creation of Temple Beth Ahm in Matawan, N.J., Temple Beth Judea and the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline; children, Mona (David) Kenyon of Peoria, Ariz., and Rabbi Stephen (Techiya) Oliven of Jerusalem; and nine grandchildren.
Services were held at East Lawn Palms with Rabbi Stephen David Oliven officiating.
