Lillian Weich

Lillian (Lilly) Weich, 94, died March 24, 2011.
Born in Poland/Austria, Mrs. Weich immigrated to the United States in 1935 as a young bride. She became a U.S. citizen in January 1943. Mrs. Weich raised her family in New Jersey, where she owned a women’s store, The Sample Shop. She retired to Tucson in 1969 with her husband, Aaron. Mrs. Weich was a life member of Hadassah, a volunteer and board member of the Auxiliary of Handmaker Jewish Services for the Aging, a member of the Women’s League of Congregation Anshei Israel, and a longtime worker and supporter of the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona. After getting her driver’s license at the age of 68, Mrs. Weich visited shut-ins and taught cooking classes at Congregation Anshei Israel.
Mrs. Weich was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron, and son, Martin. Survivors include her daughter, Ruth (Ronald) Kolker of Tucson; daughter-in-law, Sharon Weich of Tucson; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Congregation Anshei Israel with Rabbi Robert Eisen, Cantor Ivor Lichterman and Rabbi Arthur R. Oleisky officiating. Interment followed in the Congregation Anshei Israel section  at Evergreen Cemetery.
