JFCS breakfast to honor Ruthann Pozez

Jewish Family & Children’s Services will honor Ruthann Pozez at its second annual Celebration of Caring complimentary breakfast event on Thursday, March 3.

Pozez relocated from Topeka, Kan., to Tucson with her husband, Louis, co-founder of Payless Shoe Source, in 1983 and has been deeply involved with the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona. With her late husband, she helped build the Tucson Hebrew Academy and Tucson Jewish Community Center campuses. The Pozezes were instrumental in developing the Tucson Jewish Community Foundation and the Hillel Foundation at the University of Arizona. Ruthann Pozez co-chaired the 1995 Anne Frank exhibit at the JCC and continues to volunteer at the Anshei Israel gift shop.

George Hanson

George Hanson, music director and conductor of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, will be the guest speaker at the event, which will be held at the Marriott University Park Hotel from 8 to 9 a.m. Hanson will speak on “Creativity and the Psyche.”
