TUCSON HEBREW ACADEMY’s board of trustees recently appointed ARTHUR YAVELBERG as Head of School. Yavelberg, who has worked in Jewish day school teaching and administration for 30 years, received his master’s degree in educational administration from Northeastern Illinois University and another master’s in Jewish philosophy from the Jewish Theological Seminary. THA also added JULEE DAWSON as director of development and community relations. Dawson has lived in Tucson for more than 30 years and has an extensive track record in nonprofit, public and private sector fundraising and Jewish community involvement.

GAIL WALLEN, Ph.D., has joined the University of Arizona as the coordinator of the VETS (Veterans Education and Transition Services) Initiative. Wallen is a clinically trained hospital chaplain who has worked at University Medical Center since 2002. She has worked with military personnel in Holocaust education and training and with families of deployed soldiers through Jewish Family & Children’s Services’ child and adolescent trauma and support services programs at Fort Huachuca. She also coordinated the Holocaust survivors’ program at JFCS, and has training in critical incident stress management.

THE JEWISH HISTORY MUSEUM has added three members to its board of directors: BRANDON APSELL, ANNA GREENBERG and returning member KENNETH MILLER.
