Esther Becker of Congregation Chofetz Chayim will hold a free pre-High Holiday women’s dinner and discussion of the book “A Daughter of Two Mothers” by Miriam Cohen on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m.
“Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur offer a time for introspection, a time for renewal, and for growth,” says Becker, who began a tradition of holding women’s book events before the High Holidays in 2007.
The program is limited to 100 women. Prior to the dinner, participants should read “A Daughter of Two Mothers,” the true account of a handicapped widow’s forced separation from her infant daughter and their eventual reunion, set in pre- and post-World War II Hungary. Discount copies are available for $25; call Becker at 591-7680.
