JFCS Responds to the Growing Economic Crisis in Southern Arizona

As Arizona families face increasing economic pressures, Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Southern Arizona (JFCS) is reinforcing its commitment to providing essential mental health and community support services to vulnerable populations across the region. JFCS is committed to responding to the growing economic crisis in our community by ensuring access to critical services, including mental health care, emergency financial assistance, and basic necessities. 

“With the rising cost of living affecting so many in our community, JFCS’s services are more crucial than ever,” said Carlos A. Hernández, president & CEO at JFCS. “We currently receive over 300 calls monthly for emergency assistance, highlighting the urgent need in our community. Our dedicated team continues to work tirelessly to meet these increasing demands.” 

JFCS’s comprehensive response to growing community needs includes: 

  • No-cost mental health services for uninsured or underinsured individuals, including evidence-based trauma therapy, individual counseling, and specialized group sessions for various populations 
  • Financial Wellness and Emergency Financial Assistance programs that provide both immediate crisis support and long-term financial coaching 
  • A No-cost Durable Medical Equipment program that delivers new medical equipment to low-income residents 
  • Grocery assistance to combat rising food insecurity 

Therapy services are available both in-person at JFCS in Tucson and via telehealth throughout Arizona. The organization’s trauma-informed approach and diverse range of services make it uniquely positioned to address the complex challenges facing Arizona residents.
