London Ahava Emerson, daughter of Jordan Emerson and Dr. Miriam Geoffroy, will celebrate becoming a bat mitzvah at Congregation Anshei Israel on Nov. 22, 2025.
She is the granddaughter of Randy Emerson and Bonnie Sedlmayr-Emerson of Tucson, and George and Irina Gurevich of Scottsdale.
London is a seventh grader at Orange Grove Middle School, where she is exceptionally passionate about English and math. Her pre-K through fifth-grade Spanish immersion classes were a great foundation for her continued study of Spanish. London plays tennis, enjoys a wide variety of music, and loves going to concerts. She enjoys musical theater and knows every word of “Hamilton” and “Mama Mia.” London is an enthusiastic traveler. She delights in playing with and taking care of her younger cousins. Thanks to her dad, she is a Buffalo Bills fan – Circle the Wagons!
London’s mitzvah project is about grassroots organizing for social justice. Through a series of PJ Library Get Togethers, London and a small group of peers are learning organizing principles through the lens of Jewish values. Each member of the peer group will teach the same principles to at least three additional people who themselves will teach other people, creating a powerful way to effect change. London will also donate a portion of her Bat Mitzvah gifts to grassroots organizing efforts.
