As Tucson Hebrew Academy (THA) prepares for a year filled with celebration, they reflect on the expansive network of parents, grandparents, alumni families, and friends that make up fifty years of a global school-community. The 2023-24 school year will bring the THA community together like never before with four festive events:
- Community Shabbat, August 18th, 2023 | Tucson J
- Alumni Homecoming, November 2023 | Location TBA
- 50th Celebration Gala, March 10th, 2024 | Tanque Verde Ranch
- Community Havdalah, May 18th, 2024 | Tucson Hebrew Academy
As Southern Arizona’s foremost center for Jewish education, THA recognizes this year’s unique opportunity to create lasting bonds with its community. The school proudly unveils a commemorative 50th anniversary Hamsa logo and motto: Celebrating success, ensuring our legacy. THA selected the Hamsa because of its symbolic connection to the number five in Judaism and a nod to the five decades of the school’s spirited history.
Elizabeth U., class of 2000, encapsulates the 50th celebration mission and motto best in her eighth-grade yearbook quote: “What I can tell you is this: every moment I have been privileged to be a student at THA has been a precious experience that I will never forget. My days have been filled with challenging academics taught by dedicated professionals and caring instructors.”
To kick off the year, Head of School Johanna Shlomovich and the Board of Directors invite you to join them for a school-wide Shabbat on August 18th at the Tucson Jewish Community Center. To be notified directly with more details of this and all future events, please visit thaaz.org/celebrate.
For more information on how to get involved and inquiries about sponsoring an event, please contact Johanna Shlomovich, Head of School. Additionally, if you have old class photos or memorabilia, THA would love for you to send pictures of them to be included in the 50th celebration.
