Avey Marie Lopez-Hanshaw (Aviva Miryam bat Azriel) will celebrate becoming a Bat Mitzvah on Saturday, January 28th, 2023 at Congregation Kol Ami on Country Club Rd. She is the daughter of Dr. Elise & Mr. Robert Lopez-Hanshaw, and the granddaughter of Donna Greenwood, Manuel Lopez, and Karen & Mark Hanshaw (all of Tucson).
Avey attends Orange Grove Middle School. She is a talented artist who is passionate about human rights. Her hobbies include painting, sculpture, and walking in nature. She has also been a member of the Tucson Girls Chorus since she was 5 years old. For her mitzvah project, she is casting pewter Hamsa necklaces of her own design, to raise money for Jewish Family and Children’s Services. She supports their mission of providing social services to Tucson’s most vulnerable residents.
