Over 200 people attended Tucson Hebrew Academy’s annual Tikkun Olam fundraiser honoring Dr. Jill (z”l) and Dr. Herschel Rosenzweig and their many contributions to THA, the Jewish Community, and the greater Tucson area.
Over the years, the Rosenzweigs have shown genuine acts of generosity, with a strong emphasis on advocating for children. Notably, at Tucson Hebrew Academy (THA), Jill (z”l) and Herschel founded a program to provide on-campus counseling with a counselor from Jewish Family and Children Services to foster community through collaboration across Jewish organizations.
Longtime lovers of the arts, they have supported numerous local charity, service, and cultural organizations, including the Tucson Symphony, the Arizona Opera, the Southern Arizona Chamber Music Society, the Tucson Museum of Art, the University of Arizona School of Dance, and the Drawing Studio.
The event’s attendees started the evening by enjoying a cocktail hour and perusing a lovely silent auction featuring an impressive array of donated items. Proceeds from the silent auction benefitted the THA 8th grade trip to Israel. Dinner followed, along with a tribute program featuring Master of Ceremonies, Jacob Meyer, THA class of 2012, and remarks made by keynote speaker, Dr. Howard Toff, M.D. & Ph.D.– a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. Additionally, the audience enjoyed a moving performance by the Tucson Symphony, with concertmaster Lauren Roth and lead keyboardist Dean Zhang, a touching tribute video with messages from loved ones, and entertainment by the THA Children’s Choir.
The talented Carrie Robles from the Drawing Studio created a stunning portrait of Jill Rosenzweig that was admired by all as the evening wound down.
In all, the event was a glittering success and a lovely tribute to a couple that has spent a lifetime in service to the community, becoming the very embodiment of tikkun olam (repair the world). May we follow Jill (z”l) and Herschel Rosenzweig’s shining example in the years to come.
