Harold Shapiro dies

Harold B. Shapiro, the oldest son of Janis (Bramson) and Hyman B. Shapiro, was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Jan 8, 1936, and died on Feb 3, 2022, at the age of 86.

A member of the Jewish War Veterans, having served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War, Harold (Hal) was preceded in death by his son Jimmy, and wife of 56 years Betty (Lowenthal). He is survived by his daughter Lisa (Shapiro) Lyon, of Texas, and husband Rabbi David Lyon, his sister Barbara J. (Shapiro) Bufford, and brothers Seymour Shapiro and Irwin Shapiro. Harold also had four grandchildren and one great grandson.

For a time, Hal had his own airplane and General Aviation Pilots License. He worked for and retired from Raytheon in Tucson. His retirement was spent traveling the country and enjoying his grandchildren. He was loved and will be missed.
