After 21 years of dedication to the Tucson Jewish Community, Rabbi Robert Eisen stepped down in June 2020 as the spiritual leader of Congregation Anshei Israel. This December 5, the last night of Chanukkah and the holiday of rededication, Congregation Anshei Israel will be dedicating the remodeled Beit Midrash in his honor. This opportunity was originally delayed due to the pandemic and will be a hybrid event for the community to join in-person or online to dedicate the Rabbi Robert J. Eisen Beit Midrash.
Rabbi Emeritus Robert Eisen served as Congregation Anshei Israel’s spiritual leader from 1999 through June 2020. An enthusiastic participant in all synagogue programs, Rabbi Eisen was especially gifted at interacting with children. A scholar able to teach ages 2 to 102, Rabbi Eisen was involved in the learning process of children in Preschool, Kindergarten, B’nai Mitzvah, Religious School, Hebrew High School and Confirmation. Under his leadership, Adult Education programs, including scholars-in-residences, drew enthusiastic participation.
This free event on December 5, 2021 will be hybrid (in-person and Zoom), and will include tours of the renovated Beit Midrash, Dedication ceremony, Mincha/Ma’ariv services, followed by Chanukkiah lighting and a family-friendly dinner with meat and vegetarian options. RSVPs can be made through the synagogue office at 520-745-5550 or on their website, caiaz.org.
