Frances Silver, 94, died June 23, 2020.
Mrs. Silver was born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 8, 1926 to Charles and Minnie Granat. She moved to Tucson in 1966. She had a long career as a teacher at Whitmore Elementary school. She was a member of Hadassah, which honored her for her leadership in educational programming, and also was active in the League of Women Voters and the National Council of Jewish Women. In her later years, she was cherished for her storytelling of her early life in Brooklyn.
Mrs. Silver was predeceased by her husband, Harry Silver, and her brothers, Nathan and Louis Granat.
Survivors include her children, Susan Raines and Carol Fernandez (Roberto); five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Private services were held at Evergreen Cemetery with Cantor Marjorie Hochberg of Temple Emanu-El officiating.
