The Steven M. Gootter Foundation will present its annual Philanthropic Award to Elliot Glicksman at the 12th annual Gootter Gala on Friday, March 3 at the Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa.
Glicksman, a lawyer in Tucson, “has supported the Gootter Foundation since its inception 12 years ago. As our official emcee/auctioneer, he has been directly instrumental in helping us raise significant money that has helped us in our mission of saving lives,” says Andrew Messing, president of the Steven M. Gootter Foundation.
The foundation raises awareness and supports education and research into sudden cardiac arrest, in memory of Steven M. Gootter, a member of the local Jewish community who died suddenly in 2005 at the age of 42. The foundation also provides automated external defibrillators to nonprofit organizations throughout Southern Arizona.
Glicksman has served as emcee/auctioneer for many nonprofit organizations including Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Arts for All, the Tucson Girls Chorus, the Educational Enrichment Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Ben’s Bells, earning him the Cystic Fibrosis Breath of Life Award in 2009 and the Arizona Chapter of the American Jewish Committee’s Learned Hand Award for Community Service and a National Philanthropy Day Award, both in 2014.
