Survivors to share stories at UA Hillel Holocaust vigil

Students at the University of Arizona Hillel Foundation will hold the 25th annual Holocaust vigil from 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 30 to 10 a.m. Thursday, March 31 on the UA Mall. Dedicated to remembrance, the vigil includes the reading of Holocaust victims’ names throughout the 24 hours.

Holocaust survivors will share their stories and be available to talk with attendees from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 30

. There will be an opportunity to paint ceramic butterflies for the Butterfly Project. The butterflies are meant to represent the 1.5 million children who were killed in the Holocaust.

Student-designed museum pods presenting pre-World War II Eastern European Jewish culture, a cattle car, a concentration camp barracks and a memorial featuring videos with survivor testimony will be available to explore for entire 24 hours.
