Miriam Barsk, 88, died May 22, 2016.
Born in Chicago, Mrs. Barsk graduated early from high school, married Willard Davey in 1944 and moved to Dodgeville, Wisc. After they divorced in 1948, she returned to Chicago. While working at White Photo Sales, she met Benjamin Barsk and they married in 1960. They moved to Bowie, Ariz., where they owned the Teepee Motel. They moved to Los Angeles before returning to Arizona in 1966. She attended classes at the University of Arizona, was involved with the Women’s International League for Peace & Freedom and participated in the Pima Friends Meeting.
Mrs. Barsk was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Barsk. Survivors include her son, Bennett Barsk of Alexandria, Va., and brother and sister-in-law, Nate and Bernie Winter of Chicago.
A memorial service was held at Temple Emanu-El with Rabbi Samuel M. Cohon, Cantor Emeritus Cory Winter of Congregation BJBE in Deerfield, Ill., and Bennett Barsk officiating.
