Alexandra (Sandy) Bloom, 88, died June 13, 2016.
Born in Chicago, Mrs. Bloom was raised in Baltimore, Md. After graduating Northwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in education, she began teaching elementary school in Long Beach, Calif. While living in Long Beach, she met Theodore Bloom and moved to Tucson to marry him on Nov. 27, 1952 at Temple Emanu-El. Mrs. Bloom was a volunteer and spearheaded various women’s groups at Temple Emanu-El. She was president of the Brandeis book drive, the Angel Charities and the National Council of Jewish Women and was instrumental in the development of the Tucson Museum of Art. In addition to helping with local charity events, she helped organize national events. She was also involved in the family business, Dave Bloom and Son’s.
Mrs. Bloom was preceded in death by her husband, Ted. Survivors include her children, Terry Concannon of Tucson and Edward David Bloom; six grandchildren and five great-children.
Services were held in Evergreen Mortuary with Rabbi Samuel M. Cohon officiating. Interment followed in the Temple Emanu-El section of Evergreen Cemetery.
