Sidney Morgen, 86, died Sept. 6, 2015, in Houston.
Mr. Morgen graduated from High School of Commerce in New York in 1945. He received a bachelor’s degree from City College of New York and a master’s degree from the University of Arizona. Mr. Morgen worked for the Arizona State Employment Service for many years, and then switched careers, becoming a high school counselor at Cholla High School in the Tucson Unified School District. A longtime member of Temple Emanu El, where he led a Torah study group for many years and taught in the religious school, he later joined Congregation Or Chadash.
Mr. Morgen was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, and son Victor. Survivors include his children, Henry (Suzanne Weiss) Morgen and Steven (Diane Dorf) Morgen.
Graveside services were held in the B’nai B’rith section of Evergreen Cemetery with Rabbi Steven Morgen officiating.
