JILL RICH will receive the Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Southern Arizona Chapter at its 27th Annual National Philanthropy Day luncheon on Nov. 19 at the Westin La Paloma. Rich has been volunteering and raising funds for causes and social services in Tucson for more than 30 years. She serves as social action chair of the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona, board chair of the local Federal Emergency Management Agency, and on the board and committees of Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network, Long Cares Foundation and Temple Emanu-El. Known for her devotion to the Lost Boys of Sudan, she is founder and president of the Sudanese Promise Fund. She also founded the Mitzvah Corp, an emergency assistance fund. She is involved with numerous other causes, including the Winter Shelter Program, Red Cross, Tucson Planning Council for the Homeless, Arizona’s Children Association and Catholic Social Services.
ESHED OZERI, a rising junior at Arizona College Prep Academy, participated in the University of Arizona’s Journalism Diversity Workshop for High School Students last month. The 12 students selected from around the state created a newspaper called The Chronicle. They also blogged, created multimedia pieces, and recorded a radio news piece for a website they created at thechroni cleua.weebly.com.
