The event included dinner, a Megillah reading and Israeli music. Enjoying the festivities are Shira Barel (center) with, from left, Tamar, Amit, Ofri and Lee Benjamin. More than 150 revelers, most in costume, attended Congregation Anshei Israel’s Purim Pandemonium on Wednesday, March 4. Around 100 people turned out for Congregation Chofetz Chayim’s Purim party on Thursday, March 5, which featured dinner, musical entertainment and a magic/comedy act by Slim Edelman. Chaverim’s celebration also included a carnival with games, jumping castles, pizza and hamantaschen. Congregation M’kor Hayim performed a Purim shpiel on Friday, March 6, relating the Book of Esther through the music of “Damn Yankees.” Cast members are (L-R) Rabbi Helen Cohn (the Narrator), Bob Chasan (Haman), Grace Hartman (Esther), Ed Leven (Mordecai), Nate Miller (King Ahashverosh) and Linda Horowitz (Vashti). Congregation Bet Shalom held a Megillah reading on Wednesday, March 4. The event included a bagel buffet and hamantaschen. Members of Congregation Or Chadash enjoy a “Pie in Haman’s Face” booth at the Purim carnival on Sunday, March 8. The event, attended by about 125 people and run by sixth- and seventh-grade students and their families, benefits the Noah Cohen Youth Philanthropy program.
