The Tucson Jewish Community Center has launched Shabbat & Me, a new program for families and children. The free weekly class meets Fridays at 10 a.m.
Shabbat & Me encourages families to spend quality time together without the use of electronics, taking the opportunity to consider family priorities and focus on wellness.
Julie Zorn, Tucson J Jewish culture specialist, leads singing and blessings over challah and juice, and teaches a craft.
“Over the past couple of years, I have watched the Tucson J really focus on its commitment to teaching the value of wellness to its members and beyond,” says Zorn. “Shabbat is the day of rest, and so celebrating this weekly holiday is directly in line with the emphasis of taking a pause from life’s daily demands and the mission of The J.”
Shabbat & Me meets at The J except for monthly “Shabbat on the Go” events at various Tucson locations. For a schedule, see www.tucsonjcc.org/ calendar. For more information, contact Zorn at 299-2000, ext. 236, or jzorn@tucsonjcc.org.
