Congregation Chofetz Chayim will hold a Magical Purim Party II on Thursday, March 5 at 5 p.m., featuring award-winning magician and comedian Norm Marini. He is a past president of the Society of American Magicians. His honors include Close-Up Magician of the Year and three-time winner of Stage Magician of the Year.

“Purim is the most festive of all holidays, and the magician will enhance our celebration. The miracles of Purim were initially hidden from us, but were later revealed,” says Chofetz Chayim’s Rabbi Israel Becker. “As a matter of fact, Hashem’s name does not appear in the Megillah at all. That indicates to us that Hashem is always here, although he may appear hidden. The fact that someone would look at the Purim story and think that G-d is not there is an illusion. That’s why comedy and magic and celebration are in the Purim spirit”

The party will include wine and hors d’oeuvres, dinner, banjo music by folk and bluegrass musician Michael Walner, the magic show and dessert.

The cost is $21 for adults, $15 for students and $10 for children under 12. RSVP by Feb. 27 to esther@tucson torah.org or call the rabbi at 747-7780 for more information.
